About
Ms. Brazell is a senior trial paralegal who initially fell into the legal profession after an employment law firm determined her legislative experience would be useful in their law practice. It didn’t take long for her to “catch the bug” for this side of the law—she was immediately drawn to the story of the case and sleuthing out clues and facts, much like the protagonists in her favorite novels. It also appealed to her “rule follower” nature: having a very strict set of rules of engagement was an oddly satisfying aspect of the field.
Prior to entering the legal field, Ms. Brazell worked in government relations as a Field Representative with the California State Legislature. During that time, she analyzed legislation for impact on constituents, researched legislative history for use in position statements, and made recommendations regarding positions on legislation. She also served as a constituent advocate regarding issues with the State’s many administrative departments in order to resolve bureaucratic issues impacting individuals in her constituency.
Since the beginning of her legal career, Ms. Brazell’s focus has included litigation support from pre-litigation to trial in single-plaintiff cases up to complex multi-district litigation. Ms. Brazell has supported cases through appeal to the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Brazell is an experienced trial paralegal in both state and federal courts. She has organized focus groups for analysis of opening and closing statements, drafted motions in limine, jury instructions, and exhibit and witness lists. She has provided in-court trial support, including rating jurors for jury selection, on-the-fly search of deposition transcripts for impeachment testimony on cross-examination, and presentation of evidence in the courtroom.
She enjoys spending her free time with family, and her two cats (Mau and Pip), attending literally any event that features live music and playing "casting director" for every novel she's ever read.
